5 Minute Pitching Opens

Excited to share that certain editors and agent will be doing 5 minute pitching at CYA Conference this year. 

Important to note that these are NOT assessments, they are verbal pitches. 

As per the Editor Appointments page - these are the details:

5 Minute Agent and Editor Pitching Apointments: 

Import information:

  • You can only book pitching sessions once you have booked for the conference.
  • Session time will be allocated for the pitching sessions.
  • Pitches are strictly limited to a maximum of 5 minutes.
  • You may select as many agents and editors as you want on a single booking.
  • You can book multiple sessions with the same editors but they will need to be made as separate bookings. 
  • Sessions are $5.50 (incl GST) each.

Only certian editors/agents are taking formal 5 minute appointments, please make sure you check their EDITOR & AGENT pages and only pitch what they are choosing to see.



We have also recently added a new video from our awesome volunteer Peter Allert, and thank him heaps, for his time spent videoing and editing. See the bottom of our Home page for this video to get a taste of what happens at CYA Conference!   

There are still a number of the EDITOR ASSESSMENT SUBMISSIONS outstanding - please send yours in ASAP if you are one of these.

The competition is in the final throws of CYA Judging…and we look forward to revealing the shortlist on the 20th June. Thanks you to all the CYA  judges, for you hard work!

1. Program Changes

We have had a few changes to our program, in the Self Publishing stream.

Studio 3 now welcome Deborah Lee,(IngramSparks), Rebecca McDonald and Dr Lara Cain Cray (both from Library For All Australia), and Louise Guy to the presenter list! 

Studio 3’s new look program: 

11:00am    90 min       Deborah Lee - IngramSpark ~ Self-Publishing: Getting it right! The growth of self-publishing; the importance of investing in your book with professional services for cover design, typesetting, etc.; the possibilities of Print on Demand and ebook platforms; marketing your book and building an author platform; and the importance of metadata in a digital environment in both national and international markets.

2. Friday Networking Menu change:

TAFE head chef has given us a new menu for the Friday night - and we are so pleased with it - as it includes lots of buffet hot food for the cooler weather.


  • Garden- baby lettuces, tomato, cucumber, carrot, capsicum, sprouts, balsamic vinaigrette.
  • Pasta- penne pasta, roasted capsicum, tomato, Spanish onion, basil pesto mayonnaise.

Side selection:

  • Roasted veggies
  • Chips
  • Steamed Rice

Main Selection:

  • Roast Chicken
  • Crumbed Qld Whiting
  • Beef Bourguignon

Dessert selection-

  • Assorted sliced whole cakes and tortes.
  • Seasonal fruit salad.

Dinner rolls (including Gluten free), butter and assorted condiments included.

Guests with dietary requirements, will also have some alternate options TBA on the numbers booked, so be sure to let us know on your booking.

3. Headshots:

On site at CYA Conference this year we are having a number of TRADE PROFESSIONALS to help along a career. Welcome to Melani, our professional photographer taking author headshots. Places are limited, so you do need to secure these.

Your session will include a 15-minute photo shoot taken against your choice of backdrop, and 15 minutes to select your picture, which will be provided to you in electronic format.

Price: $63.50 inc GST for the first digital image.

Additional digital images can be purchased on the day directly from the photographer at $20 per image.
