First Page submissions

A true writing fact:
The very first page of any book, be it picture book, chapter book or novel is crucially important. It’s your selling point when the editor/agent looks at your writing. So you need to make a great impression from the very first word on the page to ensure that they keep reading.

Do you have a manuscript that you would like to hear a bit of feedback on?

At CYA Conference on 4th July - 9am - Session 1 is:

The First Page ~ What does a first page need to be, or not be, for a publisher to read on?

This panel provides a unique opportunity to hear Industry Professionals respond to actual first pages pre-submitted anonymously by the audience. Panel members respond live to the first pages, commenting on strengths, weaknesses, genre, market, commercial potential etc

So this is the call out… From today till midnight Saturday 20th, we will be calling for volunteers authors for the first page session. We will only take 25 entries into the session (time allowing). You will not read out your work, this will be done by the chair of the panel.

The choosing of these stories to be read will be done on a lotto style draw.

You will be able to register your name and upload your first page size 12 font, double spaced (chapter books and novels) and single spaced (Picture Books), with the following information:

Type: Picture Book, Chapter Book, YA Novel

#of words in the completed manuscript

http://bit.ly/first_read_2015

This form will only connect during these dates.

What are you waiting for - its feedback for free - go and register and send us that page!

Until next time, keep writing, keep illustrating and keep smiling!
