If you can contact the person in your area to drop off donations of any children’s and YA books, preloved and new, it would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to volunteer and be a drop of point, please contact Tina on info@cyaconference.com or Tel: 0408 751 208.

Thank you everyone for all your help in this endeavour.

CYA Conference is also in the process of registering Mother Africa as a charity in Australia. We have been told this process could take up to 18 months, in the mean time, we will be working with other organisations to get these books delivered.

Our second plan is to follow the books up with an educational tour. Providing access for these children to Australian published authors and illustrators. We will be appealing for funds to help us with this, but ask that at the moment, you keep your money and don’t send it until we open that appeal here.

Thank you.

2011 Wrap Up

2011 Wrap Up

7 November 2011

All feedback has now been sent out. Please visit the Competitions page to get into the full results for the 2011 CYA Conference writing & illustrating competition.

Thank you again to all the volunteer judges: Rebecca Timmis, Ally Howard, Heather Davies, Tina Marie Clark, Keri Lane, Mardi Sands, Debbie Kahl, Aaron Pocock, Leonie Tyle, Karen Collum, Kathryn Apel, Claire Saxby, Ali Ashley and Sally Odgers.  Without your help there would be no competition - thank you.

And to all the final judges for taking the time to read and comment on the short lists where you did - THANK YOU! Maryanne Ballantyne, Lisa Berryman, Zoe Walton, Jon Appleton and Katrina Lehman.

If you have not received your feedback - please email us on: info@cyaconference.com - so we can check where it has got to. We have had quite a number bounce back to us with incorrect/no longer used/not known email addresses.

Also, you can see the artworks received by CYA Conference in 2011. It’s worth a visit!  2011 Art Gallery

Special thank you for 2011 also go to Sam Eeles who helped out a lot this year with her time, and to Ally Howard who as always, was there for me. To Steve Howard and Brian Eeles, thank you for your help and for sharing your beautiful wives with me. I couldn’t present a successful CYA Conference without their help.

Thank you to Arts Queensland and the Australian Government who made this year that little bit easier with our grant, and who paved the way for the 2012 CYA Conference.

And finally, and never forgotten, to my husband Shaun and my boys, who put up with me in ‘conference mode’ and don’t complain too much about beans on toast, or cremated chicken for supper - thank you guys - always.

CYA Conference will be on 6th & 7th July 2012.

Hatchlings will be on Friday 6th JULY 2012

Alligators will be on Saturday 7th JULY 2012.

So, that means that the competitions staggered opening starts :1st January and all categories CLOSE ON 30th ARPIL 2012.

This was a huge upload to do all at once , if anyone finds a wrong link/not working on the web site - please let me know - I do appreciate being told.

CYA later!
