David Reiter is an award-winning poet and writer of fiction, scripts and multimedia. His fourth book, Hemingway in Spain and Selected Poems, was shortlisted for the 1998 Adelaide Festival Literature Awards. His previous books include The Cave After Saltwater Tide (Penguin, 1994) for which he won the Queensland Premier’s Poetry Award. His most recent works are the children's picture book Real Guns, the novel Liars and Lovers the script and performance CD Paul and Vincent, and the feature-length DVD Hemingway in Spain. Phase 2 of My Planets, a fictive memoir in multimedia is currently under development.
David has a strong background in corporate work, having served as a publishing manager and technical and scientific editor for a number of organisations, as well as a publishing consultant in North America and Australia. His more recent interest in digital publishing and multimedia stems from a lifelong preoccupation with interdisciplinary artforms. His background as a lecturer at tertiary institutions for many years in creative and professional writing, as well as his active pursuits of projects in emerging artforms, has led him to be much in demand at festivals and conferences in Australia and overseas as a reader or demonstrator of his own work, a workshop leader, and a mentor.
IP’s current blend of print and digital projects is a realisation of David’s vision that New Publishing enterprises need to be streetwise, efficient and responsive to changing tastes of the reading [and the viewing/listening] public.
