Donna has worked in children's publishing for several decades. From her beginnings as in community history projects as a freelance designer and illustrator, Donna went on to work in educational publishing for ten years.

Donna continued to illustrate trade picture books, while running her own book packaging business before moving from Melbourne to Sydney. She worked for Scholastic as a commissioning editor and art director, setting up their trade picture book list. Later, with illustrator and designer, Wayne Harris, Donna ran the multi award-winning specialist children's book design business, Monkeyfish, and the two friends have co-taught children's book illustration for more than twenty-five years.

Perhaps best known for her work with Nadia Wheatley, My Place, was adapted for a twenty-six part television series, and is still in print after thirty years. Donna has illustrated many award-winning picture books and middle grade fiction for other authors, including Morag Loh, (The Kinder Hat and Tucking Mummy In), Margaret Wild, (My Dearest Dinosaur, Robber Girl, Babs the Baby and Fog the Dog, Seven More Sleeps and others) Duncan Ball, (Jeremy's Tail), Sue Whiting, (The Firefighters), and Simon French, (Guess the Baby, and What Will You Be?).

Donna has also illustrated her own texts, (Digging to China and Big and Little) and has written for other illustrators (Jimmy, illustrated by Trace Balla). Waves, written by Donna and ilustrated by Heather Potter and Mark Jackson publishes in June 2018.

Donna works as a senior designer for Walker Books Australia and Black Dog Books.

Donna will be looking at illustration portfolios only in her one on one assessments.
