Isobelle Carmody

Isobelle Carmody is a well known Australian author who has written many novels and short stories for children and adults and has a host of award winning novels to her credit. She began the first of her highly acclaimed Obernewtyn Chronicles while she was still at high school and worked on it while completing a Bachelor of Arts and then a journalism cadetship.  Obernewtyn was accepted by the first publisher she sent it to and went on to be shortlisted in the "Older Readers" section of the CBC Book of the Year Award. The series and her short stories have established her at the forefront of fantasy writing in Australia. 

Scatterlings won Talking Book of the Year, The Gathering was a joint winner of CBC Book of the Year Award and winner of the  Children’s Literature Peace Prize.  Billy Thunder and the Night Gate was shortlisted for the Patricia Wrightson Prize for Childrens Literature. Greylands was named a White Raven at Bologna Book Fair and the title story of the Green Monkey Dream collection won Best Short Story in the Aurealis Awards when it was published. Darksong won an Aurealis Award.  Alyzon Whitestarr won a Golden Aurealis. Metro Winds was shortlisted in the 2012 Aurealis Awards. The Red Wind, which she also illustrated won the CBC Book of the Year for Younger Readers. The last book in this series The Velvet City will be published in July this year.

 

Isobelle currently divides her time between Victoria and Brisbane while undertaking a PhD at the University of Queensland.

  • Agent & Editor sessions are only available to conference attendees.

  • Some editors have withdrawn from the conference due to it being an online-only event.
    If you have booked with one of them we will be in contact with you shortly.

  • You do need to be attending the conference to book an assessment. 

  • You may book your session before booking for the conference however there will be a $25.00 administration charge should you decide to cancel the appointment before assessment bookings closing on 15 May 2020 

  • No refunds will be made if you make an assessment booking but do not book for the Conference and your session will be cancelled.
