Full day masterclass: Capturing the past (and the readers' attention!)
Readers of historical fiction enjoy history, but more than that they want a compelling story that sweeps them away to another time and place – and that inspires them in their lives today. In this workshop, New York Times bestseller Natasha Lester will talk to you about the historical fiction market, and then share all her tips to help you write (or rewrite) your own historical novel. She’ll cover: creating authentic rather than anachronistic characters; learning how to manage and conduct research and incorporate that research into a story; developing transporting and realistic settings; mastering the plot of a historical narrative; and refining your story idea to capture your readers' and a publisher's attention.
