Hi, I’m Rory, a big kid with a beard. I enjoy picture books, fist bumps, stuff, items and things. I love Dad jokes, words that rhyme, and my wife and daughter. I'm also a Toowoomba based traditionally published author with an ever-growing pile of picture books (14 as of January 2025). I'm passionate about kidlit and using it to instil a love of books, reading and creativity particularly in reluctant readers because once upon a time, I was one.

Dreaming Big: The Art of Writing Picture Books
Dreaming Big is an inspiring and practical workshop for picture book authors, designed to motivate participants to pursue their creative goals while equipping them with the essential tools to succeed in the world of children’s publishing.
Drawing on his journey from hopeful writer to published author of 15 picture books in under five years, Rory shares real-life insights and actionable strategies for turning ideas into published works. Participants will explore the core elements of picture book structure, the importance of strong concepts, and the creative process that transforms a dream into a book.
This session combines encouragement with craft, offering both inspiration and a clear framework for developing picture book manuscripts.
