For those of you asking for an illustration bootcamp, we're thrilled to announce that internationally published author and illustrator of several award-winning children's books, Briony Stewart, will be leading an in-person illustration bootcamp on the 7th of July as part of CYA 2024.


Briony Stewart is an award-winning author and illustrator of children’s books. In 2022, she won the Prime Minister’s Literary Award in the category of Children’s fiction for her work on the verse novel Mina and the Whole Wide World with Sheryl Clarke.


She received a Children’s Book Council of Australia Honour Book Award for her book ‘We Love You Magoo’ and has been shortlisted for an Australian Book Industry Award for ‘Bedtime Sorted,’ which she co-created with comedian and TV personality Jimmy Rees.

Briony’s first book, Kumiko and the Dragon was published in 2007 and won an Aurealis Award. It soon became a trilogy, and in 2012, the final book in the series, ‘Kumiko and the Shadow Catchers’. won The Queensland Literary Award’s Children’s Book Prize. In 2012 Briony was selected by the British Council as one of 3 Australian Artists under 30, excelling in their creative field for the ‘Realize Your Dream Awards’. She spent 9 months in the UK developing as a children’s author and illustrator.


Briony has a double degree in Fine-Art and Creative Writing and has taught creative writing at Curtin University.
