Claire Saxby writes award-winning fiction, non-fiction and poetry for children. From extreme silliness in 'There Was an Old Sailor', to big historical stories with strong curriculum links like 'My Name is Lizzie Flynn', 'Meet the Anzacs' and 'Meet Weary Dunlop', to iconic Australian animals including 'Big Red Kangaroo', 'Emu' and 'Koala', her picture books aim to engage, entertain and encourage curiosity. Claire's work is published in Australia and internationally. 


Her picture book 'Emu' (ill Graham Byrne, Walker Books) was shortlisted in CBCA Awards 2015, and won both the Wilderness Award and a Whitley Award. 'Big Red Kangaroo' won the CBCA Crichton Award, was shortlisted for the Queensland Literary Award and was a Whitley Award winner. 


Recent books include 'Koala' (ill Julie Vivas, Walker Books) CBCA Notable Book, Bird to Bird (ill Wayne Harris, Black Dog Books) and Dingo (Tannya Harricks Walker Books).
