Jo Sandhu

Jo is an award-winning author who writes novels for upper middle grade. Her trilogy, Tarin of the Mammoths, is published by Penguin Random House. In 2018, Book One, The Exile, won the Readings Children’s Book Prize and was a CBCA Notable book. It was also a finalist in the Aurealis Awards for Best Children’s Book.

Her other books are Clan of Wolves (2017) and Cave Bear Mountain (2018)

Jo has been writing stories for over fifteen years and is a firm believer in creating unlikely heroes, exciting adventures and authentic fantasy worlds.

Dialogue: Tips, Tricks and Punctuation.

This workshop covers:

  • The functions of dialogue

  • The basic rules

  • Structure and punctuation

  • Speech tags

  • Tips and problems

Each section is complemented by writing exercises.

Participants will gain confidence in writing effective dialogue that enhances their storytelling. They will learn how to use dialogue to improve characterisation, plot development and world building, and how to structure and punctuate that dialogue according to industry standards.
