Erin Middleton - Editor Assessments

Erin Middleton is an editor with Walker Books Australia, where she works on books for children and young people. Erin loves that her job is an excuse to read books meant for kids, because they're some of her favourite stories. Erin has worked with award-winning and best-selling creators including Kate Foster, Phil Cummings, Sue Whiting and Neridah McMullin. She has a passion for fantasy, found-family, wonky fairy tales and child-centred storytelling.

Erin is interested in books for children that centre the child's (or a childlike) perspective. She will assess everything from picture book texts through to middle grade, with a particular interest in early readers and junior fiction. Erin is also happy to assess adult fantasy and speculative fiction. For children's books, Erin is looking for a sense of wonder or joy, an engaging premise and a strong pace. For fantasy/spec  fiction, Erin is keen on diverse voices, in-depth worlds and memorable characters.

Erin will not be assessing non-fiction or YA books.
