Fiona lives in NSW, Australia, with her two teenagers, two dogs (editing assistants) and her horses.
At Beyond Words Literary Agency Fiona represents a string of successful authors. She is also a manuscript editor and published author. Her autobiography, My Wild Ride, was published by Allen & Unwin in 2013.
She has a BA Arts/BA Education with an English Literature major.
Fiona also now runs Contempo Publishing Services - for those who prefer to work with a partner publisher. This model allows authors to retain more control of their books, to reach a wider market in a faster timeframe and to earn more profit per book.
Fiona is drawn to books that immediately pull her in and make them impossible to put down. She values compelling characters and meaningful stakes that keep her emotionally invested throughout the story. Narratives that build tension or curiosity in a way that makes her eager to see what happens next are particularly appealing. At the same time, Fiona appreciates writing that is insightful, offering deeper reflections on life, relationships, or the human experience, ideas that remain with her long after she has finished the final chapter.
Fiona is not looking at children's picture books, or horror.
