She’s worked on both sides of the publishing fence, self-publishing her debut picture book and independently creating a suite of high-value resources for children’s book creators. As the author of 16 traditionally published picture books and industry guides, Mary blends real-world publishing insight with sharp, commercially grounded strategy.

This Bootcamp is designed for creators who are already published or preparing for publication. It’s for those who are serious about building a long-term career in publishing.
It concentrates on two key areas:

- Defining your voice and vision
- Writing your creator bio (both long and short versions)
- Identifying your audience (understanding the difference between your ‘tribe’ and your ‘fans’)
- Social media strategy and developing your content pillars
- Creating a professional Marketing Media Kit
- Building a 12-month checklist leading into your book launch

About the bootcamps
The Bootcamp is a day spent with an editor where you will receive feedback on your work in small group sessions, time to work on your manuscripts, followed by a progress session where they will give you further feedback. There is also a discussion panel and a Q&A session.
The bootcamp will run as a single group of eight people.
You do not need to come to the conference to join a bootcamp.
