Palmina Vilone from Ford Street Publishing studied a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing. She has worked in publishing and editing for five years and is currently an editor for Ford Street Publishing, and recently started her own freelance business in manuscript appraisals. Her interests include short stories, fantasy and literary horror. When she isn’t reading and writing, she can be found devouring Stephen King novels, surrounded by her many pets. Her writing has been published in Tabula Rasa Review, Gems Zine and Verandah Journal. Recently, her short story With Love, Your Fernanda was adapted into a voice-acted narrative by the award-winning podcast NoSleep. You can find her @palminavilone
Palmina is seeking character-driven middle grade and young adult fiction, with a particular focus on contemporary, fantasy and science fiction genres. She is drawn to projects led by witty, relatable protagonists with a strong narrative voice.
In the picture book space, Palmina is interested in distinctive, original storylines that clearly centre an important and meaningful message.
In terms of scope and fit, Palmina is not currently looking for strong romantic elements or overtly crude humour. She is also not seeking hard trilogies or duologies.
For picture books, themes focused on wildlife or nature are generally outside her remit unless the concept presents a clearly unique and compelling angle.
